A Chinese man in East China's Fujian Province was re-infected with COVID-19 after recovering from it.

China hasn't found a case of a re-infected patient who can spread the virus to others, the health authority in Xiamen in Fujian, said on Thursday.

The patient, surnamed Huang, was confirmed to be a COVID-19 patient on May 13 after flying back from Tajikistan to Northwest China's Shaanxi Province. After Huang was treated and finished his quarantine time, he returned to Xiamen on June 28.

Huang tested negative after his first nucleic acid test on June 29 but later tested positive after the second test on Thursday, the local health authority said.

Huang's wife and daughter were quarantined. Close contacts of Huang who live in the same community will also be given nucleic acid tests.

Another patient from Changde, Central China's Hunan Province, who previously tested positive for novel coronavirus in March after returning from Bangladesh, was also re-infected with the virus, according to an announcement from the local government on Thursday.
