Did you get the answer??

So to clarify, here is the text and question:

1 rabbit saw 9 elephants while going to the river. Every elephant saw 3 monkeys going to the river. Each monkey had 1 tortoise in each hand.
19

How many animals are going to the river?

1 rabbit saw 9 elephants while going to the river.
9

The Rabbit saw 9 elephants while he was going to the river, we cant assume that 9 elephants were also going to the river.  There are 9 elephants and 1 rabbit.
9991

Every elephant saw 3 monkeys going to the river.
3

The next sentence claims that every elephant saw 3 monkeys going to the river. If we assume that all 9 elephants all saw different monkeys then there would be 27 monkeys. (9x3 = 27)
39327

The trick here is that we cant assume that every elephant saw 3 different monkeys. This means that all elephants saw 3 monkeys going towards the river. Thus, there are 3 monkeys going towards the river.

 333

Each monkey had 1 tortoise in each hand.

1

This means that each of the 3 monkeys had a tortoise in each hand. There are 6 tortoises altogether.

 36

There is one rabbit, 3 monkeys, and 6 tortoises. The ONLY answer is 10!

What did you learn from this exercise?

Through running seminars around the world, I have found that games can teach us a great deal about our behaviors and patterns.

In this example, how did you approach the question?

Did you skip over small details and look to get the answer straight away?

Perhaps in your business, you skip over the small details that could be costing you a great deal of money, maybe you miss out on deals or dont read contracts fully

Did you feel that it was a complicated maths equation?

Maybe in your business, you are making things more complicated than they need to be. You may be searching for so many different answers creating a much more complex problem that you need.

Did you make an assumption that every elephant saw different monkeys?

Perhaps you are making assumptions in your business without gaining true information. You could be focusing on the wrong target market or even creating a product that people dont want.

Take some time to reflect on what you learned from this and how it impacts your lifestyle and business.
